On Tuesday, I received the new MacBook Air (inch, base model) I bought from the Apple online store last week. After I booted it up and entered my personal information, I immediately launched the Mac App Store to re-install all my apps (and I also happened to get free iLife apps in the process). Try logging out of your Apple ID under the App Store settings on your Mac or iOS device and then logging back in again. Afterwards, try the download again and see if starts to download at the expected download speeds. Answers. Mine does take a long time to downlaod apps and appears to be quite slow but definately not hours. Have you tried the usual restart of the phone and closing the app store in multi tasking before using it again. I saw the exact same behaviour after I setup my new iPad Pro on Tuesday, I’d restored it from a backup.
